Our History

Who Came First? Acme or Wiley Coyote?

Acme Tops & Tunes, has been serving loyal customers in the Sacramento Area since 1945. Formerly located downtown at 18th and L st. Ted Sobey's Acme Top Shop became a Sacramento landmark. The old "We Cover All Seats" logo identified us as an upholstery shop. Most people do not know that we were one of the first retailers to sell and install car stereos.

Now located at 6430 Franklin Blvd., the tradition of quality continues under the ownership of Rene Cornejo. Acme is proud of our employees and both their individual and collective experience. Some employees have been with us for over 25 years! You can be sure that stability and commitment is passed on to you.

As for Wiley E. Coyote and his nemesis The Road Runner, these cartoon characters are from a series of Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies Cartoons. The characters were created by animation director Chuck Jones in 1948 for Warner Bros., while the template for their adventure was the work of writer Michael Maltese.

In conclusion, Who came first? Acme Tops & Tunes or Wily E. Coyote? It looks like Acme beats the competition once again. We’ve been in business for 65 years and will be around for many more.
